Abstract: | The growing interest for the study of strategy, as well as in the networks of enterprises, suggest the need to discuss the application of the ideas and concepts of strategy to this new type of enterprises framework. A network of enterprises is a set of firms that manages, as a whole, gain power to compete by the establishment of fidelity relations in the business of its members. Since this sort of organization – the network – does not have someone who is formally in charge of designing its strategy and, at least in the beginning, it goes through a self-organizations process, it does not seem adequate to merely insert the traditional concepts of strategy, that were thought for the context of one enterprise to the new situation. This text starts considering the levels of strategy created for one corporation expand them to the case of a set of firms. General strategies are also considered and are analyzed the existence of some structural features, that could be a source of competitive advantage to the network, and consequently used to design its strategy, even though this strategy may be only a common understanding of the best way to face the competitors. |
